OreWars is a free Minecraft Java Edition server for PvP survival. You join with the address orewars.org, and nothing has to be installed.
What kind of server is OreWars?
OreWars is a PvP survival server for Minecraft Java Edition 26.3, hosted in Vienna and open since 11 October 2026. The map has three rings around spawn. Near spawn you are safe and can build a base, but the good ore lies further out, where other players can attack you, and you have to carry everything home on foot because there are no teleports and no ender chests.
Is there a Minecraft server like EVE Online?
OreWars is built on the same idea as EVE Online's high, low and null security space. The safe ring around spawn is high sec, where nobody can hurt you. The risk ring is low sec, where you become a target as soon as you carry valuables or start a fight. Lawless at the edge of the map is null sec, with open PvP and the diamonds.
Is OreWars pay to win?
No. Nothing is sold on the server, so there is nothing anyone can buy that helps in a fight.
Can my base be raided?
Not while you keep it supplied. You pay a small upkeep in ore, and as long as it is paid nobody can break into your base, and a faction can do it no more than a single player can. A base whose upkeep runs out opens up, and a week later the land is released.
Can I play without PvP?
Yes. In the safe ring around spawn PvP is off and you keep your items when you die, so you can build, mine coal and copper and learn the map for as long as you like. Iron, gold and diamonds are further out, so going for them is a choice you make when you are ready.
Does OreWars have world bosses?
Yes, five of them. One rises every evening at 20:00 Berlin time as long as someone is online to meet it, and others turn up at other times without warning. Most of them can be beaten by one player, the prize goes to everyone who did a fair share of the damage and is still alive in the arena when it falls, and a boss can drop a weapon you cannot get any other way.
What is the daily treasure?
Every day a treasure is hidden somewhere on the map, and the first player to reach it keeps what is inside. The first clue comes out at noon and the second at 16:00 Berlin time, on the website and on Discord, and the last one comes out in the game at 19:30. On weekdays it lies in the safe ring, so a new player can win it, and at weekends it moves out to the risk ring and holds more.
What is the vault?
Far out in the lawless ring stands an old vault full of netherite, totems, an elytra and diamonds, and whoever gets the loot out keeps it. It is guarded, and the walk home through lawless land may be the hardest part. It refills every Sunday at 18:00 Berlin time, and if nobody robs it, the new loot goes on top of the old, up to three weeks' worth.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. You can start a faction with its own chat, and members cannot hurt each other. If you bring a friend who stays, you both get rewards, starting with tools for your friend and a piece of armour for you.
Do I need mods or a launcher?
No. A normal Minecraft Java Edition client is enough. The server offers an optional music pack when you join, and you can say no to it.
Where is the server and what is the ping like?
The server runs in Vienna, so players anywhere in Europe have a low ping. You can join from further away too, and your ping grows with the distance.
How do I join OreWars?
Open Minecraft Java Edition, go to Multiplayer, click Add Server and type orewars.org as the address. The players talk on Discord at discord.orewars.org.
